The Pools
The
“Grand Entrance!”
We have two pools, one for general swimming (10' x 20')
and a Jacuzzi style pool (5'x 5') with
hoist access for your dog.
The 
pools were designed for maintaining general fitness
in dogs, and the therapeutic treatment of canine joint disease. Vets’ agree
that swimming is one of the best treatments for arthritis, hip dysplasia,
backaches and post surgical rehabilitation in dogs.
The process of swimming allows the body to achieve increased mobility in stiff
or sore joints as well as building muscle mass around the affected area. Muscle
mass not only supports the joint but alleviates the grinding degeneration of
the joint as well. Increased fitness is achieved without the pounding and
jarring of other forms of exercise. This makes hydrotherapy an excellent treatment for dogs
recovering from surgery.
' pool offers a safe alternative to rivers and lakes because our
pool is heated to 31oC (88oF) and has a non-chlorine (active oxygen)
filtration system that will not cause skin and eye irritation. You can even go
in the water with your dogs if you wish!
Even
if your dog has a fear of swimming or is not structurally designed for it, we
work patiently with your dog to assure its comfort and security. All of our
less able swimmers can wear RuffWear™ life preservers
for their safety. Leads are initially attached to the preserver to allow
immediate access to your dog while in the pool.
...And
of course, toys, rubber ducks and tennis balls are provided for entertainment
while swimming!!
Sessions last 30 minutes – Normally about 20
minutes swimming, 5 minutes wash and 5 minutes dry. Obviously, if you want to
go home with a soaking wet dog, you can swim for the full 30 minutes!!
